Hello Everyone and thank you for joining me today
My vision of this podcast is to provide a dose of inspiration to your real estate journey, by finding and giving you the best information that will help you invest successfully in real estate.
In some episodes, I will be talking about specific aspects and key factors of real estate investing.
In others, I will be interviewing investors, from those who are still working a 9 to 5 job to others who have accumulated an incredible amount of wealth in real estate and are the best in their respective fields.
I want you to be able to learn from multifamily and single-family investors, wholesalers, flippers, lenders, authors, real estate agents and other successful people.
Each of these sessions will be designed to help you learn, so you can combine your knowledge with actions.
My goal is to share information 100% real estate related, and in others I will be talking about the psychology of investing, strategies to keep you motivated and inspire you to be the best you can be.
As Tony Robbins said, “success in life is 80% psychology and 20% skills – so, what you do, doesn’t matter if you are not in the right mindset.”
Now that you have heard about my vision of the podcast, I would like to tell you a little about me.
If you noticed the accent, its because I am originally from Costa Rica.
I moved to the United States when I was 17 years old. The beginning was really tough, learning a new language, a new culture, and trying to create my own American dream.
It was not an easy journey. To pay the bills I cleaned toilets, washed cars at a local dealership, washed dishes in a restaurant, delivered pizza, cleaned floors, and I sold water filters from door to door.
Until one day I found myself crying on sidewalk next to a dumpster in an apartment complex.
At that moment. was when I told myself that I could not continue doing this for the rest of my life.
Many people told me I had to accept my reality, But I wasn’t going to believe them. So, I set up a plan to prove them wrong and to create my own destiny.
Now, fast forward to where I am today, I have an amazing wife, two beautiful kids, and I control over $4 million dollars in real estate.
ALL by investing on a part time basis. Yes, I have a W2 job, and in the last 4 years I have investing in residential real estate during my spare time.
When I started investing I wanted to create a legacy for me and my family.
I want to be able to retire one day and enjoy that stage of my life, and not worrying about paying my bills.
I have seen my parents, my in-laws, my friends, and coworkers that after working for over 35 years or more they decided to retire. They had to cut back expenses, changing the way they used to live, relocating to another area with lower cost of living, rely on social security to pay the bills, and some had to go back to the workforce and find a part time or a full time job. I dont want that for me in the future.
Early on in my real estate journey, I was introduced to another real estate investor who was also just starting to build his real estate profile.
We met for coffee and learned we both had similar goals, so we decided to partner up. As we both were working a full time job we looked for properties in the evenings and weekends.
We both didn’t have a lot of time or money so we set up a budget of $250 a month to invest in real estate. We started by wholesaling properties then added fixing and flipping homes.
We reinvested the profit back into the business so we could acquire more properties, and that allowed us to build a nice cash flowing portfolio.
Real estate investing is a journey that take time to learn and master.
So when you hear a guru trying to sell a dream of drinking pina coladas at the beach, run the other way, because success in real estate requires work.
Real estate investing is not easy, but it is possible to learn and earn. You need consistency and a clear goal and over time you can create wealth and a legacy for you and your family.
I couldn’t have done any of this without my wife’s support. My kids understanding and sacrifice of sharing their dad most nights and weekends. And my business partner Daren, who is a go getter, a real estate machine. Together, we push each other to do better everyday.
Well…That’s all for today, but if you too have a desire to be in control of your future, to chase your real estate dreams.
